Program details
DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – IMLIL VILLAGE (1740m) – TOUBKEL REFUGE (3200m)
You will be collected from your hotel or the airport by our driver at 8:00 am sharp to begin our journey to Imlil. Please ensure you are ready by 7:00 am. Details about your pickup will be provided after the booking process.
Imlil, a Berber village located in the Atlas Mountains near Marrakech, is situated 1,740 meters (5,700 feet) above sea level, approximately 65 km (40 miles) south of Marrakech. This will be the starting point of your trek on the first day.
Upon arrival, muleteer crews will meet us to handle your luggage, food, and any other necessary belongings. An experienced mountain guide and tour official will lead you on a trek that begins with a visit to several small Berber villages. We will pass by the mountain shrine of Sidi Chamharouch and ascend to over 8,000 feet above sea level, approaching our mountain hut.
We will take a break for a picnic lunch, prepared by our cook, and rest briefly before continuing our ascent. At 10,500 feet above sea level, we will reach a refuge where you can enjoy a refreshing mint tea, take a hot shower to clean off the dust, and rest in preparation for the next day's journey.
DAY 2 : TOUBKAL REFUGE (3200m) – TOUBKAL SUMMIT (4167m) – IMLIL VILLAGE– MARRAKECH
During the summer months, there may be an option to sleep in tents at night. Regardless of the season, you'll start your day early with breakfast served to our trekkers at 5:00 am. This early start is essential to begin our ascent by 5:30 am. The climb involves mostly uphill walking, which will take approximately four hours, including a short break halfway.
You'll be provided with nuts, oranges, and water along the way as you take in the stunning views and scenery. Once we reach the summit, you'll have about 45 minutes to rest, take photographs, and enjoy the view from the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains near Marrakech.
The return from the summit to the refuge will take about two hours. At the refuge, the group will enjoy lunch before continuing the trek back to Imlil. The descent to Imlil will take approximately three hours. From Imlil, we'll drive you back to Marrakech.
